Congratulations and good luck in your rebranding effort – a very valuable and tuff task. As a pr practitioner and director for nearly 30 years, I’ve participated in this project for both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, and have always thought the efforts well worth the investment of time, energy and outreach.
As a beginning farmer, I truly appreciate SFA’s leadership, innovative grounding and collaborative spirit. These qualities brought Farm Beginnings to Cloquet a couple of years ago, and that course provided foundational principles as my husband and I developed plans for our new farm, Bull Brook Keep. The Holistic planning approach helped us anchor our plans in high-level goals first, and then explore the farming enterprises that could advance our family, financial and community goals.
And so when I think about SFA, the qualities that come to mind include:
- Practicality
- Connector to valuable ideas and networks
- About small-scale farming
- Connecting farmers to consumers
- Important resource in the St. Croix River Valley food shed
- Grassroots – ideas and experiences come from the farmers of this area
